My question involves estate proceedings in the state of: New York
Grandfather died without a will. All the parents have passed away and only the grand children are left. The four deceased parents had one, two, three and five children respectively. How will the inheritance be divided? Will it be divided into eleven (total number of grand children) equal parts? Or will it be divided first into four equal parts for each of the parents, and each part is then further subdivided equally among the grand children belonging to each respective branch?
