Juvenile Retail Theft in Illinois

Hi I am 16 years old and i made a huge stupid mistake yesterday. I stole from claires, something that was worth $3.50. They brought me to the back room and iwaited for the cops. They took me to the police station and i waited for my aunt to pick me up. They said they would call me in a few weeks with a court date. I have never been arrested before or gotten any ticket for the law. Do you know what the procedure is or if there is a fine i will have to pay. Is there anything i can do to not have this put on my record?? I live in ILlinois. Thank you.

All fines and Civil demand will be up to your parents to pay as you are a minor. Yes this is on your record however once you become an adult most minor refords are sealed. Talk to your Attorney about diversions programs (if you qualify) this can help you avoid a conviction on your record. As stated Civil Demand letter will come in mail this is unrelated to court fines etc.
