Default Last Paycheck Not Received After Resignation

A woman in New York resigned from her job and moved to another state. She is still owed her last paycheck. The employer claims that a check was mailed more than a month ago, and wouldn't give a better answer than "It's in the mail". The employer is no longer returning calls. What should the woman do?

She should contact the New York Department of Labor for assistance, by filing a wage complaint.
