My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: North Carolina.
I worked for a startup solar company located in mooresville. One morning the first few weeks working my crew and i noticed our work truck that was just assigned to us had expired registration we informed our bosses and they told us they would handle everything just to drive it anyway. Later on when i pulled into the home dopot we were buying tools at, i was followed closely by an officer who wrote me a ticket for expired registration i told him about the situation but he wrote it anyway. Immedeately i called my bosses and told them about what happened and they assured me they would have thier attourneys handle everything. Again next day they tell me the attourney is going to handle everything so i just forget about the whole thing expecting everything is settled.
A few months later i quit and move to asheville all the while getting rides from friends and family never realizing my boss lied to me about handling the registration ticket. One day a fight breaks out that i was involved in breaking up and the officer called to the scene runs my liscense just because i was involved and tells me i have suspended liscense and failure to appear. We figure out the situation on the spot and then he tells me to call a da and get it handled and hes not going to confiscate my liscense because the situation was messed up. Now i need to buy a car for my new job and this whole situation is really causing me issues.
My old employer literally laughed in my moms face when she called him and i havent been able to contact him except by email about a month ago and his only response to the situation was ill see what i can do. Is there anything i can do besides paying the fines and pleading guilty?
