    Default Lead Poisoning at Work

What can an employee do if they are diagnosed with unsafe lead levels from their employment doing lead abatement work and, following chelation therapy, their employer tries to assign them to additional lead abatement projects before they have been retested and found to have safe levels of lead? The employee thinks that the employer is trying to get him to quit.

If the employee is done with chelation therapy, he should have been retested to verify that the treatment worked. If the employer is trying to require the employee to return to lead abatement work before therapy is complete or retesting has been done, the employee should raise the issue with the state or federal organizations that address workplace safety issues (federally, that's OSHA). The employee can also consider contacting a workers compensation lawyer, in relation to the completion of their treatment and whether the employer is engaging in improper tactics.
