Default Hair Stylist Accused of Theft

A hair stylist in California was renting a chair in a salon. Some of the stylists were taking liberties by taking products from other stylists' stations without permission to use on their own clients, such as hair dye, developer, scissors, and combs. The salon owner instructed the stylists to stop taking each other's supplies, reminding them that it was theft. The stylist continued to take supplies. The stylist was unaware that the owner had installed security cameras that captured her taking other stylists' supplies. The owner now says that the stylist has to pay her for the supplies that were taken, plus another $2,500 for the cost of the security camera, or she will go to the police. What should the stylist do?
