Default Four-Wheeler Stolen While in the Care of a Child

A man borrowed a four-wheeler for his daughter to ride. While she was briefly alone, sitting on the four-wheeler, an adult that she knew told her to get off of the four-wheeler so that he could drive it. He then stole the four-wheeler. The owner of the four-wheeler says that if the borrower doesn't pay for it, he's going to report it to the police as a theft. What should the man do?
