My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: California
I used to be under a periodic agreement with my landlord and the period has ended so I am currently month-to-month.
I have permission to sublease and have been doing so for a little while. When I was still under my lease period, I used to sublease using a periodic agreement. Now I am using month-to-month agreements for subleases because I am on month-to-month. Normal shenanigans.
I was wondering if it is okay to use a periodic sublease term for the subleasee (say 6 months) and then include a section in my sublease agreements to allow for lease term cancellation (with notice of course) from my side if the master rental agreement is terminated or I have to move out for whatever reason? I guess it basically means I can terminate the sublease at will for better or for worse? Is there any examples of this that I can find online?
I do not plan on moving anytime soon but I do not want to be stuck in another lease term in case something happens with work and would like to have more of a commitment from my subleasees.
