Default How to Object to Your Ex's Overnight Guest

My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Arkansas

My ex has had an overnight guest stay when the kids are there with her. Its stated in our decree that no overnight guest are allowed. I have notified her of this violation and soon going to court. I've learned that her and her BF are planning to get married before the court date is set. How will this affect the outcome

Well, once they get married he won't be a guest any longer, he will be her husband. So, while she might get a slap on the wrist for violating the order its probably not going to go much further than that.

I would love to know how the fiance is negatively affecting the child and how that's going to magically change overnight once Mom does get married.

I understand the desire to keep new partners away from the children while the relationship is in its early stages but there comes a point where it's more about "How can I get back at Other Parent" than "Is this healthy for my child?".

Is that what's happening here? I have no idea. It's simply a statement of my opinion.

If they are THAT close to getting married, what is the problem?

That general of a statement about overnight guests gives so much room for people to be controlling over their exes. A general statement like that means that nobody can spend the night. Her mother, her brother, anyone without violating it.

I can see your issue with it if they had just met, or if he was one of many men spending the night or something like that but they are getting married. Very soon by what you have indicated. Your post states nothing about how it is harming the child, and only mentions that it is a violation or the court order. Don't waste your time trying to stick it to Mom. They are getting married in a few weeks anyways and at that point it won't matter. It really is time to let it go.

People do get married after just meeting sometimes...just saying. Who is to say that his ex and her boyfriend have been even dating very long? My grandparents knew each other six weeks and got married. He was a widower. She was a widow.

Then a former friend got engaged to a guy after a month of dating and married less than a year later. She has four kids.

I've seen lots of stories where women will bring a guy in their home after barely dating and sometimes marry the guy they barely know.

Either way, they will still be marrie prior to the court date so he is wasting his time.
