You can try contacting the issuing financial institution, but they may defer to the law firm. The worst they can do is refuse to talk to you or say that they can't help.
Once a lawsuit is filed, the best way to get information about the plaintiff's claim is through the discovery process. It is generally possible to serve a request for production of documents on the plaintiff, to get documentation that allegedly supports their claim. Note that the availability of discovery varies by state and by court, and in some courts you may need a judge's permission to conduct discovery. Some small claims courts don't allow discovery, but in most states a collections lawsuit over a credit card would have to be filed in a regular trial court.
