Default Can a Co-Owner Sell His Share of a Home That the Other Owner Occupies

Two siblings inherited a house. The sister lives in the house, but the brother keeps a lot of belongings there. He was recently arrested, and an appraiser showed up at the house. The appraiser explained that the brother was preparing to sell his share of the house to pay legal bills. Can you legally sell an interest in a house when the other owner is still living there?

Yes, it's possible, if an interested buyer can be located. Perhaps the sister, or somebody in the family who wants to help the sister out while making something of an investment, can make an offer on the brother's share.
