    Default How to Avoid Having Your Wages Garnished

    A debtor in Indiana was sued by a creditor and does not want to have her wages garnished. How can she avoid having a garnishment order issued?

    She can try to settle the debt before judgment, or she can see if the judgment creditor will accept a payment plan -- but they are unlikely to accept payments that are less than they would be able to recover through wage garnishment.

    Depending upon the amount owed, and the debtor's other debts, it may make sense for her to consider bankruptcy.
