Default Is Military Retirement Payments to Ex-Spouse and Taxes

Is military retirement paid to my ex considered alimony for tax purposes? It is shown on my 1099-R. She reports it as income.

    Thanks,

    Hosea

You're speaking of the division of retirement benefits, where she receives a portion (that portion being taxable to her) and you receive the balance (that portion, but not the portion she received, being taxable to you), right? That's not alimony.
