My ex filed a chapter 7. I am listed as a creditor. Is there any way for me to get information about his case? I need to know when it gets discharged.

Go to the federal courthouse and ask for a copy of the file.
If you provide your city and state, I can give you a link to the court's number to call for case information.....you will need to know his SSN or case number, however, to access case information by this method.
That would be great. He filed in Portsmouth, OH.
How long is it after a bankruptcy is discharged that the case is closed by the courts. I am suing my ex for contempt of divorce decree and was told that the stay wouldn't be lifted in the case until his bankruptcy is closed by the court.
I assume that would be the Southern District of Ohio. The amount of time it takes to close the case after discharge depends on the complexity of the case. I would be suprised if it drags out more than two or three months from discharge, and it may be closed sooner.
If your husband is on the mortgage and the mortgage is in arrears, the mortgage company may file a motion to lift the stay so that they can foreclose on the property. Whether you are communicating with the same mortgage company with regard to a refinance, or another bank, contact the legal department of the mortgage company to make sure they know you want to assume or refinance the mortgage once they obtain the lift stay order.
The mortgage company is willing to refinance in my name only. My hands are tied because I have to wait until his bankruptcy is closed before the stay is lifted and I can get him back in court to get the quit claim deed signed. I know I can get my attorney to file a motion for relief of stay, but I don't have the money.
Have you talked to the mortgage company about your husband's bankruptcy filing? They are affected, too. Suggest that THEY file a motion to lift the stay.....the court could then order that your husband execute the deed transfer in exchange for dischargeability of his liability with regard to the mortgage.
I don't want him to be able to get the mortgage discharged. He was responsible for paying the mortgage. He did not. By the time I found out he wasn't paying, the house was in foreclosure. He owes me around $30,000. I'm lucky that the bank is willing to work with me. When the stay is lifted, I will be suing him for the money in addition to the QC deed.
