I just dropped someone off at the Honolulu Airport. I pulled over at departures. Turned off the car. And helped my friend get his bags out of the hatch of the car. We were standing on the curb, next to the back passenger fender of the car. We hugged. Said our goodbyes. And I pointed him in the direction of his ticket counters. That was it. He was running late so there wasn't anything long and drawn out, and nothing any different than the other several cars there.
As I got in the car to leave, a security man approached and said he was writing me a ticket. I think my first words were pardon? Followed by, for what?? His English was very broken, but he said for leaving my vehicle unattended. What!?? I was right there the entire time! He insisted he didn't see me. I was completely floored at this point. He said he waited and waited and asked everyone around. Clearly he was lying! I was right there in plain site. And I was refusing the ticket. This was just ludacris! He kept saying I wasn't there when I clearly was. Not only was he basically saying I was lying, but was accusing me of something I didn't do. It was frustrating and infuriating! So I asked to talk to his boss or at least someone who spoke English, because he made very little sense. Without checking, he said his boss was busy. I told him this whole thing was unacceptable...
The last thing he said was okay okay. That was it. And he walked away. Okay okay. I sat there in park not knowing what that meant. I sat there for 5 minutes on the clock and watched him get back on his Segway and scoot off to harass another vehicle. After sitting there, I finally left. But now what? Is there anything damaging he can do?? Nothing was communicated and I don't like open ends.
PS It must have been quota night for PD because we counted 4 pulled over vehicles within a couple miles of the airport...wondering with this guy's overzealous behavior and insane logic if he was trying to make quota too. ??
