What Can You Do About a Cyber Harassment Incident

Hello, I have been a victim of harassment incident on social media. I had a friend relationship with the buller, however, an argument took place and she uploaded on her post false allegations and my attempt to correspond was muted. This is of a particular importance cause we are both in academia and provides false impressions to our colleagues. I have blocked the person, however, is there anything more that can be done, involving perhaps some kind of penalization of this kind of attitude. Would the court take in to account, the social web pages as a proof of evidence? Is there any penalty of making false accusations online? Sorry, I am totally new to the law system, thank you in advance for any kind of advice, I am particular interested in the way law handles online matters.

You need to tell us what state you are in. The laws vary.

However, what you describe doesn't sound like criminal harassment in most states (and certainly not federal). Making false statements about you may be civil libel (but even that is going to be hard to prevail on), but it doesn't seem to rise to the level of criminal harassment.
