Does she eat a lot of dairy products ? The reason I ask is our yougest daughter had chronic Otitis media. The doctor wanted to put tubes in her ears, but we weren't comfortable with that because she was only one year old. We took her to an Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor that has taken our sons tonsils out. He said the ear infections were from an allergy to daily products. We talked to our regular doctor who said that was possible. We took her off of all dairy products for a while and she didn't have another ear infections until we let her eat them again. After several years, she didn't get ear infections when she ate dairy products.
Not anymore. She's gone through a gamut of tests and tried various diets, including dairy free. At this point, it looks like she will be getting tubes put in her ears. She has multiple health problems, in addition to near constant ear infections, she has asthma and frequent strep infections. It's a whole different world from what I experienced when my kids were growing up. This child had to take more antibiotics in 2 months than both of my children took their entire childhood. I don't know if it has anything to do with poor prenatal care or poor nutrition during the first few months, but she is definitely in a better situation with her grandmother than with her parents.
