My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: California
First of all I just want to get this off my record due to the errors by the DMV. This all started with a traffic accident I was involved in on 9-1-2013 where I was found at fault in a rear end collision. Accident report documented my insurance company, policy number and my current address that was taken from my current license and proof of insurance card. A little over a year later I am notified by my insurance company that my license has been suspended due to a DUI conviction last year and that my license was suspended as of 11-20-13. First I was never charged with a DUI and my insurance company help out with that but the DMV stated then that I did not have proof of insurance and that they had mailed out the order on 10-21-13 requesting information or they were to suspend my license. Problem is that I never had received the order from the DMV. Today I found out why. My current ID and valid drivers license that was issued on 3-29-2012 when I updated my address was somehow not updated with the DMV office that was sending me the notices. As I had a printed copy of my record requested today show that the DMV did not have my correct address updated until 10-20-2014 but I had a valid California Drivers license that was issued two years prior with the correct address. So all of the orders were being sent to the old address that I had not resided at for over two years. The clerk at the DMV office could not explain it and the number I call to talk to someone in Sacramento about it told me that there was nothing that could be done and that it is something I have to live with. Now that I have the proof that the DMV made a mistake that has cost me well over $2500.00 more in insurance cost, I'm a little upset and want to know what I can do.
