Default Employer Won't Investigate a Report of Sexual Harassment

A young employee reported to management that she had been inappropriately touched by an older male co-worker, and that he had also made inappropriate comments to her. This happened in areas of the workplace that are monitored by security cameras.

The employer says that they will not investigate the accusation without more proof. They refuse to speak to the co-worker. They say that it would be too much trouble to obtain and review the video.

    What should the employee do?

Default Re: Employer Won't Investigate a Report of Sexual Harassment

She should (a) consult a plaintiff-side employment lawyer, and (b) after consulting with the lawyer, file a complaint with the civil rights / equal opportunity commission for her state or, if she's in a state that doesn't have such a state-level office, with the EEOC.
