If I purposely LIE on an employment application or their accompanying materials, I am committing an illicit act that inherently means that civil and/or criminal prosecutions could ensue, depending on consequences. Examples:
1. You get a job as a dishwasher at a diner.. they're all automated and use very hot water. You claim to have prior know-how or experience, but someone gets burned with scalding water, conceivably attributable in part or full to your actual lack of experience. You're liable.
2. You wangle your way into employment as an engineer (operator) for Amtrak trains. Crash! 42 dead. You're going to jail.
3. Claiming the appropriate skills and telling lies, you wangle a retail job as clerk in a very small intimate enterprise of sorts (eg. party supplies). After 4 weeks you've alienated and offended and every vital regular customer. They fold. You are liable.
Using a common search engine I found lots of matches for people dealt prison sentences for lying onto a job.
PLAINLY, whether bad consequences ensue or not, it's illegal to lie to get work. Don't cross me up with 2bltalk on this... I KNOW morality!
