Default Discipline for Missing Work Due to Pregnancy Complications

Is it legal for an employer to discipline or fire an employee from a job for missing work due to pregnancy complications, when she has provided a doctor's note for each absence attributing the absence to the medical complications?

Default Re: Discipline for Missing Work Due to Pregnancy Complications

While the proverbial devil is in the details, and depending upon the size of the employer, there is a good chance that the employer's actions violate the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA, and possibly also state law. The employee should consult a plaintiff-side employment lawyer in her state with the details.
