A California homeowner contracted for ornamental fencing, in powder-coated wrought iron. The fence was installed, but within weeks started to rust. The contractor offered to remove the sections that are showing signs of rust, have them sandblasted and re-coated, and the re-install them. The powder coating was performed by a different company. The homeowner wants to be able to investigate the company that will be performing the powder coating, as they want to know that it will be quality work. The contractor says that he does not have to identify the powder coating company because it's a supplier, and his supplier list is a trade secret. Can the homeowner compel the contractor to disclose the name of the company?
