Default Abusing Prescribed Medication While on Probation

My best friend got himself caught up in a marijuana possession charge and has been on probation for a little while now. Since he's been on probation, he gave legal proof from a doctor to his probation officer that he had ADHD, and was prescribed Vyvanse 20mg. The other day he got his hands on Vyvanse 30mg from someone else and took quite a lot of them. Less than 24 hours after the last pill he took, he was called in for a random drug test. My question is: since he's prescribed the medication anyway, is there still some way for the tests to show that he took more than he was supposed to? I really don't want him to end up in jail.

If part of his probation was to not abuse drugs, why shouldn't he spend the rest of his sentence in jail when he clearly abused drugs?

I understand what you're saying. I'm not here to argue if what he did was right or wrong, I simply want to know if he's going to end up in trouble for this.

Based on a quick search, it depends on what kind of drug test was administered and how quickly the drug leaves the system. Some can just see it present, others can tell how much is still there.

I suspect that a usual 5 or 10 panel test will be done. If so, the only thing it will tell is if it is positive or negative for the drugs its testing for.

There is a more advanced test that will tell how much of that drug is in the system. This test isn't usually done because of the cost.

Thanks for the info guys, he does have a 10 panel so it sounds like he's most likely gonna be alright.

He won't be alright until he stops abusing drugs

I can agree wih that. I'm actually telling him that the thread is saying he's most likely going to jail to try and scare some sense into him
