Default Can Your Employer Refuse Direct Deposit to the Bank of Your Choice

A New Jersey employer that happens to be a bank allows its employees to be paid by direct deposit, but has stated that it will only direct deposit paychecks to accounts it holds. It will not direct deposit paychecks to competing banks, even if that's where an employee has his or her accounts. Can the employer limit direct deposit to a specific bank?
