Default Should You Have a Lawyer Review Your Employment Separation Agreement

An employee is being terminated by his employer without cause after six years of employment. The explanation for his termination is couched in nebulous terms, a "change in direction" for the company. He is being offered a severance package, but must sign a release agreement in order to receive the package. Should the employee have the release agreement reviewed by a lawyer?
