Default Can Your Supervisor Require That You Call Him "Sir"

A new manager is requiring that all of the people he supervises address him as "sir". That has never been the practice at work. Can the supervisor impose that rule?

Unless the company has a policy that makes the rule impermissible, or the new manager's own supervisor overrules the practice, yes, the rule can be imposed and enforced.
