    Default Unscheduled Performance Review Conducted After Maternity Leave

    An employer normally conducts annual performance reviews. Several months after receiving a very positive review, an employee went out on maternity leave. A month after she returned, she was pulled aside by her manager and told that she was going to have an impromptu performance review. The employee was blindsided and feels like she was singled out due to her pregnancy. Were the employer's actions improper?
