Default How to Get Tenants to Move Out Early

A landlord entered into a lease with tenants that includes an early buy-out clause for the tenants, but no similar clause for the landlord. The landlord was renting out their personal residence while they worked in another state. They are now returning home earlier than expected and would like to move back into their home, but the lease continues for several more months. The tenant has been paying rent and complying with the lease. Can the landlord get the tenant to move out early?

The landlord can ask. The landlord can offer an incentive, such as money, to see if the tenant will agree to move. But the landlord cannot end a lease early merely because the landlord regrets the length of the lease term.
