Default How Much Time After the Verdict Should it Take to Get a Written Judgment

If a plaintiff wins a lawsuit against the defendant, in pro se, and the court renders a favorable verdict, how long should it take before the court issues a written judgment? It has been almost two months, and nobody at the court can explain why a verdict has not been issued.

Default Re: How Much Time After the Verdict Should it Take to Get a Written Judgment

When parties are represented by counsel, if no order was prepared and entered at the time of the verdict, the lawyer for the plaintiff would normally prepare a proposed judgment and submit it to the court for approval, subject to any objection from the defendant. It may be possible for the plaintiff to submit a judgment, but they will need to check the governing court rules and at this point may need to bring a motion. If they schedule a hearing on a proposed judgment consistent with the rules of civil procedure, and the court has previously indicated that it would prepare and serve the judgment, the court may at that time enter their proposed judgment or may enter its own; it's difficult to address this in the abstract, as much of the answer turns on the court rules and the court's practices.
