Default Can an Employer Decrease Your Hourly Wage

An employee working for a temp company was assigned to work at the location of a business that is in the process of consolidating its locations. She was told that after the consolidation was complete she would be transferred to a new location for similar work. The consolidation is taking longer than planned. The temp company has told her that she will continue to work at the original location for an additional period but, because the work involved will have fewer responsibilities than the work she was previously performing. Can an employer lower your wages in this manner?

Default Re: Can an Employer Decrease Your Hourly Wage

As long as the reduction is for work that has not yet been performed, and the employee is paid at least minimum wage, then yes, it's legal.
