If an employee in Missouri is fired, does the employer have to pay the employee the full value of their earned vacation time?

Default Re: Does Your Employer Have to Pay You For Your Vacation Time if You're Fired

In Missouri, vacation time is earned as a matter of contract between the employer and employee, not under state law, so the right to be paid for vacation after termination will depend upon the contract / vacation policies relevant to the employee's job. The state Department of Labor indicates that if the employer is contractually obligated to pay the employee's vacation time and does not do so, the employee may sue the employer for the unpaid compensation.
