Hi,
My husband and I have been trying to figure out what to do about filing his paperwork for petitions and such. We started to 2 years ago but became discouraged and paranoid about him being deported, etc. I know it doesn't matter that we've been married for over 4 years and have 2 children, but we just don't know what to do. We know we need to speak to a lawyer, so we're going to make an appointment to speak with one soon.
My question is that is it possible for my illegal immigrant husband to be granted a greencard (eventually) if we start filing now? What is the average cost...give or take? How long does the process take (on average)? Is it a good idea to even try right now or should we sit tight and hope that Bush and Congress will be at agreement with trying to allow illegal immigrants to stay in the US...though they will have to pay a penalty, and make sure we've paid all taxes for the number of years he has been here?
Thank you so much! Call me clueless... seriously.
