Default Using VAWA to Stay in the U.S. After an Abusive, Bigamous Marriage

My question involves a marriage in the UK but we then moved to the USA three days later, where my partner is a citizen. My partner told me she had never been married previously. she applied and received a UK marriage visa and then informed the Superintendent Registrar (marriage ceremony official) that she had never been married previously.
Following domestic abuse I fled my partner becoming homeless and destitute due to her abuse. I have just appointed a divorce attorney to complete the divorce due to her false statements on property, income and debts and child visitation. We have just discovered this week that she has been previously married and the dissolution of her marriage was not finalized meaning she has committed bigamy and fraudulent entry to the UK. We now live in New Mexico. I have no immigration status because of her refusal to apply for my marriage visa and SSN. I am unable to work, claim assistance (not that I want to, but I need support) and I am now working with an immigration lawyer to claim VAWA permission to stay and work. However, that will be a long process and now with the information re her bigamy I am not sure where I stand.

How can I get an SSN and access to work? The situation is not of my making and yet i am the one stuck.

    Any advice?
