My question involves name change laws in the State of: Ohio
Through a divorce and re-marriage, last name was changed from A to B. There is a court order through a divorce where the court ruled the father would allow the last name change from A to B The B/C was never changed. Social Security info was changed to reflect the last name change. After that court ruling the parent initiated changes in all other facets of life OTHER than the B/C.
Years ago it wasn't difficult to get ID/License however those days are long gone. What court would have that order mentioned and used by the parent those 35+ years ago. Luckily have relocated to original county these documents would reside. Have a state issued License with the B last name, not the A listed on B/C How can this be sorted out? Birth father is said to be alive but I have never had any contact. He would probably know little about this name change business.
The parent who did it has offered ZERO assistance, so I am on my own. This is an issue I'd like to deal with once and for all!
