    Default House party

    CT:
so, my mom went out for the weekend. Naturally i threw a party, and cops came, tried to come in, i asked if they had a warrant, they kept threatening me and i stood my ground, i was wondering if i can get a ticket even thought they did not give me one right now.

Before I tell you how it would have went in Ontario, how old are you and how old were your party-mates?

Yes, they can ticket you. They didn't at the scene, which makes it less likely that it will happen.

Okay, so here is what would happen if I got the call. First of all, those who are 17 or appear to be under 18 are "children in need of protection." Your "warrant" comment would not work. I'm coming in anyway. I am not searching so I don't need a search warrant. There are parents who pay taxes and expect the police to care for their children and that is what I'm going to do.

Look at it from my point of view. I come to your little soirée. I see that there are kids there. I leave without taking any action. Essentially, I allow children to continue to party. One of the children gets drunk and dies, injured, killed, whatever. Don't say it can't happen because it happens more often than you might care to imagine. So now the newspaper says, the police went there and did nothing. I'm sued by the aggrieved parents and lose my job, my house and my pension. Not for your little party I'm not.

Let's ask your mother what she thinks should have happened.

Would I give you a "ticket?" Probably not. But your attitude as you described it sure would have prompted a visit from me to your mother the next day she was home. We would have been having one seriously long talk about your party and behaviour the night of the party.

    All the best!

If you serve someone, especially someone that is underage, and they have an accident, your family could lose everything they have.
