I live in Va and have a problem. The Circuit Judge here in Hanover County has ordered that all people on probation perform community service by picking up trash 2 days a month. Normally that would not be an issue, as I advocate community service for all convicted of crimes. But the problem here is this, he wants the work done during the week. I have a good job now and cannot afford to lose 2 days a month to go pick up trash. The Prob-Parole office locally has no control, the Judge has turned that over to a civilian in the Public Works Department. If I miss work, I lose my job. If I lose my job, parole violation. If I do not report to the work program, parole violation. So I am in a no win situation. I am willing to do this on the weekends, but have gotten no progress with this.
If this court order is allowed to stand, without any modifications, we stand to have many more probation violations in the future. I am at wits end about this.
