    Default World of Warcraft Account

I purchased a World of Warcraft account way back in 2006 from a guy in my country [UK]. (Stupid I know, didn't even do it through eBay)

But yesterday he took the account back (changed email etc).

Is there anyway I can get my money back legally (£500)?

    Thanks.

The thing is, you're not legally allowed to buy or sell the accounts, so I'm worried that will just turn around to bite me in the ass.

According to the EULA, you cannot ever own the accounts, characters on them, or items on them. They are always Blizzard's property. I imagine it will be hard to sue for something that was sold to you that was never owned by the seller, and could never be owned by the buyer.

I think by "legally" you mean "contractually". It's not a crime to buy and sell the accounts, but it is a violation of the "World of Warcraft" terms of service.

Even assuming the court views the subject of the contract as being improper, the normal remedy at common law would be to void the contract. In such a case he would get his account back and you would get your money, as if the sale never occurred. Britain is the birthplace of common law, so I suspect they apply the same or similar legal principles.

Most cases like this end up with the account getting deleted by Blizzard. I have no idea what monetary recourse you would be entitled to; but if you look around, this kind of thing happens alot, and Blizzard is quite heavy handed in their remedy.

I looked around but couldn't really find anything, hence posting here.

Also I can't use paypal to dispute it because it was so long ago.

As was previously stated, the contractual terms for the World of Warcraft account do not of themselves mean that you have no legal remedy.
