    Can a H1B visa holder legally trade stocks as a day trader while in the U.S. on H1B status?

    It depends on what you mean by "day trading". If you mean making a few trades per day on a retail brokerage account, not rising past the level of casual investment, it's unlikely to be an issue. If you mean actively investing to the point of engaging in what amounts to a business venture, that's potentially problematic for a number of reasons and is something you should discuss with an immigration lawyer.
