Default Are Disciplinary Appeals Board Findings Public Records

    Police were fired; they appealed.
Are these findings available to the public?

Default Re: Is Appeals Board Finding Public in CA?

Section 832.7 of the California Penal Code exempts law enforcement personnel records from public disclosure. In turn, this has caused law enforcement disciplinary hearings and their findings to be closed to the public.

Attempts have been made to overturn this law (Copley Press v. Superior Court, Berkeley v. Berkeley Police Association (BPA), without success and the law still stands today.
