    Default Passing a new law on Emancipation in Florida

    i know that you cannot get emancipated in Florida without your parents permission, but is there anyway that maube a 16 yr old can try to change the law on that, make it so that a 16 yr old doesnt need the parents permission if he/she wants to get emancipated??

    If you really want to waste your time trying to get law changed to something that doesn't have a hope in hell of passing, you can lobby your elected representatives for change -something you should have learned in civics class.

    Please do not hold your breath waiting for a law in any state that will allow a 16 year old to be emancipated without their parents permission.

    I might add that elected Officials pay little attention to non voters which at 16 you are!

    Also hating your parents isn't really a reason for the court to rule that it would be in the best interest of the minor. (Most teens don't like their parents at that age.)

    The court isn't going to terminate parental rights unless there is a very good reason to.

    yea i thought so, i just thought of that and i thought it might work....... WHAT about divorcing your parents?? whats the law on that in FL??

    Your grasping at straws and looking at things unrealistic. The process your talking about is tougher than emancepation process.

    There's no such thing as "divorcing your parents". They can have their parental rights terminated, usually in the context of child protective legal proceedings for abuse or neglect, or you can obtain emancipation under the laws of your state.
