Default Can a Commercial Tenant Change the Locks Without Permission

May a commercial tenant change the locks to their rented premises without first seeking the consent or permission of the landlord?

Default Re: Can a Commercial Tenant Change the Locks Without Permission

As a general rule, yes -- and, in my opinion, a commercial tenant would be foolish to put the landlord in the position of controlling the keys to areas of the rental property that are within the tenant's exclusive control. If the tenant has agreed to such a provision in a commercial lease, and the landlord is refusing to allow the tenant to change the locks, one would have to wonder... why?
