Thumbs up How Long Does It Take to Get a Green Card or Citizenship

I am getting married to my sweet heart from Mexico. And i want to help her get her citizenship. I have been a citizen since last year. How long would it take for her to get either her green card or citizenship?? How long do we have to be married? And being in the military would it speed up the process?? Which forms would i have to fill out for her? And do i need to fill out any forms also?? I would appreciate all the help i can get.

She is presently lawfully in the U.S.? If so, on what type of visa? If not, and she's in the U.S., did she enter lawfully?

In that case, marriage won't get her either a green card or citizenship. Talk to an immigration lawyer.

This is my first time on this forum and I know this thread is old but I just can't believe how ignorant some people are. Me "knowitall", if you dont know the right answer then dont answer at all. Even if she entered illegally, she can get legalized by getting married. She will have to leave the country when she gets her appointment at ciudad juarez consulate in mexico, where she will be denied for a visa and depending on more details, she may be approved to apply for a waiver of the 3/10 bar from the U.S. Right now there is a pilot program that is making the process faster. I recommend you visit immigrate2us.com

Don't come in here spouting nonsense, or trying to spam profiteering services which make ridiculous promises to get their fees. If there is any chance that this person would be eligible for a waiver, she will find that out after consultation with an immigration lawyer. The idiots who come around promising people that the USCIS hands out waivers like candy? They're not helping anybody but the services they promote.
