Default Renewing a Green Card With a Felony Conviction

A legal permanent resident was picked up on a theft charge nine years ago, and spent two years on felony probation. Four years ago he was picked up and detained by immigration authorities, but then was released after a month with no adverse action. Now his Green Card is expiring, and he wants to know if he will get in trouble when he files to renew his Green Card.

Default Re: Renewing a Greed Card With a Felony Conviction

Given that he was released without any further action, it's unlikely that the USCIS intends to take greater action. Also, the damage is done, so I doubt that renewal will trigger anything that has not or would not happen anyway. But given that it's a felony, it makes sense to consult an immigration lawyer.
