Default Misappropriation of a Family Member's Social Security Benefits

I think that my brother called the Social Security Administration and pretended to be my mother, and had them change bank accounts for my benefits. My mother is my representative payee. What can I do to find out what is going on and get my money back?

If your mother is your representative payee, she should know whether or not she is receiving your benefits.

You can contact the SSA and ask about your benefits. If you find out that the money has been inappropriately redirected, you can consider making a police report or making a complaint to adult protective services. You also need to contemplate why your mother either didn't know what happened or didn't do anything, and who else might serve as your payee.
