I am writing this to have someone acknowledge that I am understaning my daughter's legal rights.
Back in 1975, my daughter, who was 5 years old, was first molested, then gang raped at the invitation of the 15 year old boy that lived next door. Not knowing that this had happened to her, we sought counseling for her in kindergarten because something was definately wrong! In therapy , rape had never come to our attention.
It wasn't until 15 years ago that my daughter came to me and told me that she knew that "Billie" had done something horrible to her; but she only had flash backs. Living in St. Louis at the time of this revelation, the therapist placed her under sodium penathol. Only then did the horrible truth come to surface.
If I understand, this IS criminal sexual conduct, for which there is no statue of limitations. Am I correct?
If that IS correct, I have a long journey to find this man. We can't even remember his last name. My daughter DOES want to locate this man and file charges.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Respectully,
RuthAnn
