Since you're nicer on this board, I will answer the question. It won't be covered by YOUR insurance policy. It may be covered by the landlord's insurance policy, depending upon his deductible. However, he is not required to replaced the carpet that is currently there, with more carpet. He can simply decide to pull up the carpet, and leave the floor bare.
I had a similar problem. Is the landlord required to replace the carpet with more carpet if the basement was a 'finished basement'? I payed a premium rate for my townhome because of the 'finished basement, but my post-flood basement was barely fit to be a laundry room.
