My question involves a child custody case from the State of: CA
Are there any provisions for requesting child support addons in a timely manner? I know uncovered medical costs are supposed to be submitted to the other party within 30 days. But I don't know about other addons. Such as overtime payment or child care costs.
So, my orders used to contain a clear child support add-on. Over the years the orders were modified several times. A couple of years ago the orders changed and I thought the add-on dropped off. I believe my ex thought so too, because she didn't request the add-on payment for 2 years. Out of the blue she said I should have been paying the add-on and I owe her for the last 2 years.
Assuming the add-on is still valid, what can I do? The accumulated amount is a few thousand dollars and it would be difficult for me to pay. Can a person just sit on an order like this for years and get a big payout?
