    Default Can Minors Be Forced to Work While Sick

    My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Florida
    One of my friends is 17 and her boss won't let her go home sick despite the fact that she's throwing up (sometimes with blood), has come close to passing out and has a fever and her job includes physical work (lots of walking, heavy lifting, etc). Her boss won't let her go home because he needs someone there and the other person is having surgery but is it legal to force her to stay even though she's a minor and definitely sick? She even works overtime every time he asks.

    He cannot force her to stay. He is free to fire her if she leaves though.

    When she went to see the doctor or the hospital because she was vomiting blood, what did the doctor have to say? If she did NOT go to the doctor, why not?

    If she is currently AT work, and somehow you know all about what she is doing while she is working, as Free9man stated, she can leave ... she may be unemployed, but she CAn leave.

    It is not to an employers advangtage to keep an employee at work that is too ill to work. If on the other hand the employee hasn't seen a dr and the dr didn't give them an excuse from work note, your facts aren't correct.
