Question Can a Married Immigrant Apply for Citizenship on Her Own

My husband petitioned me on a K-1 visa in 2001 and got married in 2002 . We're married for 13 years now. I have a green card and is expiring next year. My question is, can I apply for American citizenship on my own or am I supposed to apply on the basis of being married to him?

    Yes, you can do that.

(For what it's worth, your residency doesn't expire - it's just the card itself which, really, is little more than evidence that you're here legally )
