Quoting
Rebecca Delph
My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: South Carolina
I got fired from my job today over something I couldn't control. For example: I was at the register helping a line of customers and someone who always hangs out at the store went into the cooler and started stocking the cooler without my knowledge. When I finally finished getting the line of customers out the door I looked around the store and noticed that the door to the cooler was opened. I asked the people who hang in the store about who was in the cooler and one of them admitted to being in there. I told them that they couldn't go in there and they didn't go back in there.
Then apparently cartons of cigarettes came up missing and the first person they blame is me. Trying to say that I took them. I don't smoke first of all so why would I need to take cartons of cigarettes. Then apparently the district manager heard from custimers that there was someone in the back room while I was standing at the register. I don't let anyone behind the counter unless they were getting condoms or rolaids or something else that we keep behind the counter. The other employees do it so why can't I? Now as far as that goes if someone was behind the counter I didn't know about it and I was probably elsewhere in the store. But I got fired for all of this. Now I'm banned off the property and they won't tell me why.
Can they legally tell me that I'm not allowed on the property anymore without giving me a reason why I'm not allowed there anymore?
